Picking the Perfect Polo

Custom design polo shirts

Having a custom embroidered polo shirt for each of your employees is a great way to market your company. But if you are all going to be wearing corporate polo shirts, you want to make sure that everyone looks up to code for the public eye.

According to GQ magazine, polo shirts are “the most casual way of looking put together.” They have not gone out of fashion by any means but they definitely have to be worn correctly. Let’s look over the proper way to wear a polo shirt.

First of all, polo shirts traditionally are longer in the back and shorter in the front. This design is to help the shirt to stay tucked in when you lean over. While polo shirts look very classy tucked in to the pair of nice jeans with a belt, wearing them untucked is acceptable as well. However, make sure that the shirt is not too long if you were going to wear it untucked otherwise it will just look frumpy and over sized instead of fitted and classy as the shirt was intended to look.

The next major problem with a polo is the neckline. You definitely do not want to plunging neck line on a polo shirt. Is the polo shirt you are wearing comes down farther than the collarbone it needs to be buttoned up to that point. On the other hand a polo that does not go quite so low can be worn unbuttoned.

Next, check the sleeves. Sleeves will vary depending on the type of brand you buy. They can be anywhere from completely loose too far too tight. You don’t want your blood supply cut off by your shirt but at the same time your sleeves do not need to be flopping around. The happy medium is what you’re going for.

Although trying clothes on at the store can be a hassle, it is highly recommended when trying to buy a polo shirt. You need to make sure that the waistband of your pants and the waistband of the polo shirt complement each other and the shirt does not look bulky under your pants if you were going to wear it tucked in.

This is why buying shirts for a fundraiser from a website is not recommended. If the custom embroidered polo shirt does not fit properly your employee will look unkempt and as if he does not care about how he looks and therefore about his job.

My recommendation is to find the perfect polo and then bring a variety of sizes to your employees for them to try on before customizing.

Custom embroidered polo shirts can be worn for a number of different events, not just company fundraisers. They are appropriate for school spirit wear for example or even as team apparel. Whatever your event, just make sure the polo fits properly. There is nothing more uncomfortable then in him properly fitted polo shirt.
