The rochester employment rate has been nothing short of a crises post Kodak. Rochester employment was nearly cut in half. Kodak even shipped workers in from around the world. Everyone in my circle of friends has had or knows someone who has been affected. When my Oma and Opa first migrated to Rochester, employment was on the rise at kodak. Kodak built houses, donated to local issues even impacting the worlds film technology. When Kodak's work force started to diminish there was a obstruction left in the way of Rochester's future Now a days with the current recession and war, it seems scarce to find someone with two jobs let alone one at all. You can see how eager small business are to hire more people, but there is no capital coming in and therefore the employment situation is temperamental. Even where I work we need more people and I am constantly being over worked because there is no room in our budget to hire anyone new. With the time it takes to train them and the money we will waste as he/she begins to learn it could sink our ship. We would then affect the local Rochester employment that benefits from our business relationship with whom we purchase our goods from. Rochester employment would have increased if the fast ferry would have worked and we would of had possibly generated some revenue from tourism. The Irondequoit beach front is highly under developed and there are a lot of hidden gems around the Rochester. There are many prominent companies that are trying to replicate the economy we had in the times of Kodak. Bausch and Lomb, Harris, The University of Rochester, Xerox, and some others helped the Rochester employment rate, but i think Danny Wegman is doing the best job proving the rochester community with jobs.Wegmans makes it on the Forbes top one hundred best companies to work for. Now with there expanding operation rate that company has started to resurrect the now rebounding Rochester employment crises.
