Fixing an old houston fence

I have a large pasture that is surrounded by a fence that was installed in the late 19th century. That fence is now in a severe state of disrepair and I have been searching high and low for a houston fence installer that was capable of assessing the damage and make repairs to such an old fence without breaking the bank. My bank. I actually found it difficult to find a houston fence company that was used to working with wood fences, since most fences today are steel or vinyl. One houston fence installer advised me to replace the whole thing, pointing out that a wooden split rail was ineffective at keeping my horses inside the fenced area. I proceeded to bring the electrified wire a foot above the split rail fence to their attention. I think they were just not interested in tackling the job.
I turned to internet forums to see if I could reach out to people who had fence work done recently to see which houston fence companies had done the work for them. I did not see too many topics on houston fence installers, at least ones that had worked on old fences. Then I came up with a theory that a hundred plus year old fence would typically be on a farm or at a ranch, and the owners of such places are not usually the type to be chatting on the internet.
So, I did leg work, calling every houston fence installer that I could find in on line directories until I found an old guy who had been doing houston fence work for around forty years. He was more than willing to take a look at my problem. He checked out the sections that had collapsed, and turns out that he kept segments of a fence he had dismantled in the area and was able to use them to cheaply and quickly repair my broken fence.
