We have really done a number on this planet. I know that often I stop and think about the harm we have caused it, and many times it even sickens me. Of course I am not going to say I would give up the technology that I love so much, because I will not lie to myself, but still I see trash piled up everywhere and it is tough to be optimistic about the future of our planet. I like to imagine Earth two thousand years ago, and then two million years ago. Out of all the changes we have made, we really have not done too much to contour our technological mess. One large problem lies in water run off. Before roads and all of mankind's structures, water would simply fall from the sky, whatever form of precipitation, and then go back into the earth. There was a cycle, a beautiful and never stopping circle of flowing water that was constantly being naturally filtered. Now that water hits out cars, our roads, and buildings, pollution enters that water. We need to start installing stormwater filters in drains to prevent that pollution. Stormwater filters are small little filters that fit in drains and help to curb pollution. I believe that as a planet we need to wake up and realize that we need to put something back after taking so very much. Even in my life I have seen many people on both sides of the spectrum. I am not sure the solution to getting people to wake up and start doing good for the environment, but I think requiring stormwater filters is a good start. Making things like stormwater filters mandatory is the best solution I believe. People will not take care of the environment unless we enforce stormwater filters and other environment protecting equipment.
