The world we live in today would not be the same without the use of industrial plastics. Just about anything you see in your home or work environment can be made from some sort of plastics product. Industrial plastics are used to make all kinds of things such as computers, medical equipment, toys, cookware, certain kinds of furniture sports equipment and more. Even our modern day toothbrushes are made from industrial plastics. The discovery of polypropylene and polyethylene in the early 1950s has completely revolutionized the world we live in today. These two newly discovered substances are used to make many thousands of plastic products that are produced in countries all over the world now.
Plastics are processed in different ways, but extrusion molding is the main process that is used with its production. With extrusion molding the plastics being used are heated and then forced continuously through a forming die. As heated plastic is forced through the product comes out and is then cooled down with air or a water bath as it moves along on a conveyor belt. Then thin film, rods, tube or pipes are cut into desired lengths from the industrial plastics end product.
Plastics are used by different industries such as the packaging industry, medical and pharmaceutical industries, automotive and toys industries. Industrial plastics are also used in the building and construction industry. Many home products are made from different types of plastics as well as electronic and electrical products. There are also agricultural products made from industrial plastics. The plastics industry has completely transformed the way we package all kinds of products as well. Even the grocery bags we use today are made from industrial plastics. Also, there are different grades of industrial plastics. Each product made from industrial plastics is made from the correct grade for the type and use of each product.
