I cannot help myself bringing this up, only because I just happened to see this movie last night. The somewhat new film, the Social Network, is about the creator of facebook and his struggle along the way to becoming a billionaire. I found one part of the movie very humorous, and that was the part when the creator, Mark Zuckerberg, does a search for interns. What is funny about this part of the movie is that his search for interns is not by any means a normal one. The search for interns at facebook resulted in a drinking game between all of the prospective interns. This was no ordinary search for interns, because of all the drinking and silly contests that they were forced to take part in. The scene went by a bit fast for me, but what I gathered was that every few minutes interns had to take a shot, and whenever they finished programming codes they also had to take a shot. Basically they were just taking many shots while participating in a computer programming contest. I doubt many other companies use something like a drinking contest to do their search for interns. The kind of company Mark Zuckerberg was trying to create was a 'cool' company. So I suppose he was trying to continue that image by surrounding himself with other like minded individuals. I am not sure if I will ever be in a place where I personally have to search for interns, but I think I know what look for. In my search for interns, I would look for people with lots of experience working with others. I would definitely look for people that could take orders, advice, and constructive criticism. To be honest, I would not look too much to grades and scholastic achievements.
