Original 1980 Iron Maiden British Tour Shirt.

When bands hit the road, they make cheap custom tee shirts to sell at their shows. It’s a great way to make a little extra money from gigs, and get a buzz going about their band. Often times, they only do one run of these cheap custom tees, so you have to go to the show to get them. When bands explode in popularity, these custom tees become insanely valuable collectables. For example, an original custom tee from Iron Maiden’s very first tour in 1980 is now worth about $1,050.

The Crocodile and Chiffon Shirt.

Hermes’ men’s store on Madison Avenue in New York city came under fire in 2013 for a shirt that was as outrageous as its price tag. The black crew neck tee shirt was made out of crocodile and chiffon, and cost a staggering $91,500. That’s a whopping $8,000 in taxes alone.

As the International Business Times reports, a businessman in Pune, India bought a solid gold shirt in 2012 for a staggering $250,000, just to wear on New Year’s Eve to ring in 2013. The man said that gold was his “ultimate passion,” saying that buying the shirt was a dream come true.

The World’s Most Expensive Shirt.

The world’s most expensive shirt costs a jaw dropping $400,000. Superlative Luxury made a cotton tee shirt using completely renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar powers, thusly representing a 90% carbon dioxide reduction compared to traditional tee making processes. That’s not what makes it so expensive, though. It’s the 16 certified diamond studs.
